Via TED: Grow Your Own Clothes

Designer Suzanne Lee shares her experiments in growing a kombucha-based material that can be used like fabric or vegetable leather to make clothing. The process is fascinating, the results are beautiful (though there's still one minor drawback ...) and the potential is simply stunning.

Kim Dorland at Mike Weiss Gallery, NY

One of the many many upsides of having friends in the arts is that you get invited to some amazing art openings. I recently went to see Kim Dorland's first solo show in New York at Mike Weiss Gallery. Of course I had no idea who he was, let alone his shtick... I was blown away! Seriously! Here are some of his paintings (pretty sure they are sold already!) which can still be viewed at Mike Weiss through January 8, 2011.
